Digital Photography Shares in Nobel Prize !

This morning it was announced that Willard S. Boyle and George E. Smith of Bell Labs are being honored with the Nobel Prize in Physics for their invention of the charge-coupled device (CCD) imaging sensor. The CCD sensor was the invention that led to the wide range of digital imaging tools that we have today.

They are sharing the Physics prize with Charles Kao. Kao is being honored as the inventor of fiber optic data transfer. With out this invention we photographers couldn't share our work around the globe via the internet nearly as easily or cheaply as we do!
