Old Man's Cave

In Southeast Ohio there is an area called the Hocking Hills. For my friends in the Midwest they look and feel much like the Ozarks. These hills are foothills of the Appalachians.

There are a number of spectacular gorges carved into the local sandstone by the eons of erosion. One of these formations is called the Old Man's Cave, because of the local legend of an early settler who lived in one of the alcoves as hermit.

What made Old Man's Cave special for us is that it features a number of waterfalls and other water features that made for spectacular photography. Here are a few examples of the formations found there.

Upper Falls

Devil's Bathtub

Lower Falls

These gorges (and the entire region) feature great flora and fauna. More photos from the region to come!

Antiques

We are out on our summer vacation. We've reached our second stop were we will be hiking (and hopefully finding some great landscapes!)

We went out scouting and found an antique shop. Most of the things in these places are nothing but old junk, but they offer great shapes and colors and textures for photos. Here are a couple from my time in the store.

BluesFest !!

It has been a great weekend in KC! The hot weather moderated just in time for the weekend to start.

Our community holds BluesFest every summer. This year was the 15th edition. The music was great and the audience was appreciative. Here are a few images from the evening. There are more at this gallery

The Simplex

This is an image from earlier this year. This old movie projector was setting on the sidewalk outside an antiques store in a small town in Arizona.

This image has been lingering in the back of my mind as one I would like to use to try various post-processing approaches to finishing this one for display.
