Park Bracket NAIA Softball

It's spring sports playoffs season. The first round of the NAIA Softball Championships are played at regional sites around the country. Four teams met in St. Joseph, MO

Park University was the second seed and the host for the event. It was the first warm week of the spring and it made for good softball and good photography.

Here are a few images from the action!

California State University San Marcos was the first seed and won the bracket with a 3-0 record. They move on to the Championships in Columbus, GA

Gear: Nikon D7000 w/ 300mm f/4 (and sometimes the TC1.4II); Nikon D90 w/ 70-200 f/2.8

Lots of sunscreen between games !!

Enjoy !

More Weekend Sports !

I've spent another weekend shooting college sports. My photographic favorite for this weekend was the Park University @ Benedictine College Women's soccer match.

These ladies played an up-tempo and aggressive style of football. And the weather and light were perfect for shooting the game. Enjoy the images!

I've added a 300mm f/4 prime telephoto and a Black Rapids camera strap to my gear so I am shooting with two cameras at these activities. In this set there are images from both the D7000/300mm and the D90/70-200mm rigs. Post processing in PhotoMechanic 5 and ACR7

Rebound !

Welcome McPherson Bulldog Fans! Click on this link to see more images from 2010 - 2011 Bulldog Sports!

We had our first chance to photograph the McPherson College Women's basketball team this weekend. The game was a close fight, but the Lady Bulldogs came out on the short end of the score 44 - 49.

The Sport Center gym is a typical small sports venue: Dark !

I am working with my new Nikon D7000 to see how much improvement there is with the ISO noise processing. I can see a definite difference. But at 3200 ISO there is still noise. These images have been converted from NEF to JPEG, WB adjusted and noise reduction applied in Camera Raw. Additional sharpening and resizing performed in Photoshop.

Despite the noise, the sharpness that the camera can provide can be incredible. But the camera can also point out all your little errors like hand shake. It will be fun, and a challenge, to master this camera!
